"Cocktator" Acrylic on Masonite; 2008 33in x 45in $525
Now that I am into painting, I will revisit some of my older images on occasion, and create acrylic paintings of them. Take "Cocktator" for example. I first drew this maniacal rooster in 2001. I spent a couple of years fine-tuning the piece, and made 3-D foam versions of 'Cocktator' in 2003 and 2004. In the fall of 2008, I began preparation for an art exhibit in Dallas called Cartoon Apocalypse. I decided to resurrect Cocktator and unleash a larger, acrylic version of him for that show.
Below is a time-lapse video documenting the creation of the Cocktator painting, a piece which took about forty hours total from start to finish.
